Tiding over Google Updates
Google has its updates and we have our own complaints to resort to. In fact with a series of new guidelines from Google’s stable clearly leaving us reeling, it’s time to work on our basics. After the jostle (in the form of penalization), when you hardly had the frame of mind to actually come up possible answers to bounce back, now, after the initial wave has passed, it’s the ideal time to perhaps learn the ropes once again. Say what! Even Google wants you to do so! Here are a few ways.
Branding is the Name of the Game
Yes! There have been several attempts at improved page ranks by link building, Social Media shares and the use of target keywords. You can continue with that but definitely with an increased focus on branding. Google is clearly favouring sites that are more active “out there”.
You clearly would be competing with the bigger brands out there but it’s not really difficult to get over the “stuffed-keyword” phase and actually giving your users what they want. Start sponsoring local events to trigger community based visibility. Pay heed to what your users want. Do it by incorporating user experience consulting in your digital marketing set up. Take aid of User Testing, User Researching, Split Testing and similar methods. Be generous enough to give away free gifts at times- they are the best ways to propel brand establishments.
Stick to Old URLs
There is no need to change URLs every time you are launching a new product and introducing them to your audience. There is no way but to do it when your site architecture becomes a serious puzzle. But other than that, let good sense prevail and update new features to your product in the same URL. It ensures that there is already equity built-up even when a new product is launched.
