SEO and Web Design: The War and Its Impact
As some web analysts have rightly pointed out, the ongoing conflict between SEO experts and web designers will hardly perish five years down the line even amidst the volley advice regarding the SEO and Web Design best practices. While SEO experts blame the web designers claiming that they are in no ways helped by poor coding, designers claim that the SEO experts’ inclination to manipulate rankings by use of aggressive techniques make matters worse for them as well. It is believed that the argument is only going fuel further in the coming years with Google’s changing algorithms.
The point that both the designers and analysts fail to realise is that users actually want the best of both the worlds from a site and it’s actually the fate of the website that’s hurt instead of anyone of them.
So much so for the theory, now let’s concentrate on some facts to ensure that one actually gets a glimpse of the impact of the conflict, waged thus:
As per a recent study, some of the biggest websites known for their web designs appeared to have poor SEO attributes and vice versa. Some of the major trends that were noticed were:
• A website with great design that lacked unique titles for each URL did appear first owing to its brand name but didn’t rank when generic keywords were typed.
• A design rich website was unable to achieve full onsite optimization as it did not have keywords and H1 in their content
• Some of the sites owned by design agencies are characterised by long loading time, ineffective SEO structure, and lack of keyword orientation- therefore, they fail to rank for searches related to service provided.
• On the other hand, websites owned by SEO agencies were characterised by lack of artistic videos, old designs, zero animation (at times), lack of HTML 5 and CSS3.
