Exploring Ways to Use YouTube for SEO
YouTube videos today are very much a part of SEO strategies whereby analysts try to cash in on the “imaginativeness” of viewers to draw more traffic to their websites.
Before going in to further details of the ways in which this medium is explored to eke out SEO gains, it would be useful to mention that Chris Silver Smith, President of Argent Media, has, very interestingly pointed out that it is the subject matter that essentially draws viewers and not quality of the video – and is quick to point out that there are several low quality (in terms of resolution) videos that are quite popular owing to the content. In this regard, he advises that rather than presenting a mish-mash of all your stuffs in a single video (like, what your company is basically all about) you should break it down in a series of videos describing your company, its products and ways to do things that you do- separately. Make sure that the interlinked videos appear at due intervals, so that the contents of your first video is still fresh in the mind of the audience when the second part is launched and so on.
Other ways to substantially optimize YouTube for local SEO have also been duly highlighted:
• Providing URLs or links to your websites in the video description, whereby you would be able to, as it has been assumed that Google transports a sort of keyword association rather than bolstering page rank as the links in the video descriptions are automatically nofollowed by YouTube.
• Tags in the form of single words or phrases can be used in the video (Use the name of the business category here).
• Make sure whatever you are making as videos is promoted duly on various Social Media or Social Networking platforms including Google+, Tumblr, Twitter and Facebook etc.
