Auto Generated Sites: Here’s What Google Has for You!
As per a latest report, Google’s Matt Cutts has clearly pointed out that sites that are increasingly using auto-generated content should gear up for Google’s penalization. Significantly known as MFA or “Made for Adsense” these sites are basically auto generated with a script, whereby they contain snippets of web pages or search results with those keywords without showing any real content.
For instance, there might have been several times when you had searched for relevant topics and have landed up on pages that claim they don’t have any search result for the query you have, but has many auto-generated snippets. They are created with the aim of directing readers to their pages by appearing prominently on the Search Engine Result Page and click on the Ads rather than opting for the back button- quite incongruous, considering that readers are not going to find any relevant content for the topic they are searching for!
Therefore, these sites are significantly wasting readers’ time thereby reducing utility of the page. Cutts, nonetheless, has clearly indicated that Google is mulling strong actions against such practices. Here’s what he has to say:
“We are absolutely willing to take action against those sites. So we have rules in our guidelines about auto-generated pages that have very little value and I have put out in the past specific calls for sites where you search for product a VCR or laptop or whatever and you think you really get a review and the new land there and the very first thing you see is ‘0 Reviews Found for [blah blah blah]’.
Google clearly regards these sites as having almost zero value for readers, unless they have data that no other site has. Webmasters, thus should ensure that their sites are not indexed and even if they contain unique data, pages having “Zero results found” shouldn’t be allowed to be indexed.
